OELMA Past Presidents Advisory Council Purpose: Some duties we can help with: Represent OELMA at AASL Affiliate Assembly- 2011- Sarah Thornbery Liason to INFOhio Board- 2010-2011- Marie Sabol Chair the nominations committee
Joanna McNally's ideas: - Provide input and/or assist with advocacy initiatives - you have a lot of past-presidents with a lot of experience that can help. Either plan activities like a meet/greet with elected officials, contact elected officials, help organize/host a legislative day/breakfast, etc. - Provide input and/or assist with PR/communications. For example, Sheila Benedum would probably be willing to help with the continuation of an electronic newsletter to the membership. I found her bi-monthly emails very valuable and a benefit to the membership. - Provide input and/or assist with state initiatives. For example, Libraries Connect Ohio plus other organizations? There are times, when organizations from around the state are called together, your past-presidents might be able to assist represent OELMA. - Assist in providing articles for OELMA. - If anything, to convene as a group at least once a year for a meeting. This can take place virtually, via distance learning, via skype, phone conference, etc. You never know what ideas might come from such a conversation. I'd like to think that all of the time, energy, and involvement the past-presidents provided to OELMA would be valued and just to even have a forum for us to communicate/bind us together might be nice :-)
